God's Will

A+ A-
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I often hear people say, "if it's God's will" or "Lord Willing". When you consider what the Bible says, this is actually a very strange thing to say. In John 1:1, the Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Since God sent His Word, then we can know what His Will is. Here's the catch, we must spend time reading what He has said to know what He Wants.

They Call it a Testament for a reason. Have you ever considered why the Old and New are referred to as Testaments? What is a Testament? The Online Dictionary (Wiktionary) defines it this way:

  1. (Law) A solemn, authentic instrument in writing, by which a person declares his will as to disposal of his estate and effects after his death.

  2. One of the two distinct revelations of God's purposes toward man; a covenant. . .

So, the Testaments are God's Will.
